While the flavor was nice of going to the town and getting whatever you needed, they were really not the right fit for commons in the set

That can be a pretty big restriction in Commander, but the upside is absurd, especially if you combine it with mana multipliers like Vorinclex or Nyxbloom Ancient

If the top card of your library changes while you're casting a spell, playing a land, or activating an ability, you can't look at the new top card until you finish doing so
